Born in Las Vegas to a bandleader dad. Studied in LA @ Dick
Groves and UCLA.
A regular Anthem singer for THE LA LAKERS & CLIPPERS. With a 3 1/2 octave voice she did a lot
of studio work and films; SOYLENT GREEN & I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND. Segue to Lake Tahoe, where Jan gets to do MESSIAH solo's
to Tribute Shows at The Hotels.
Tributes to Patsy Cline, Bette Midler, ELLA! Let's not forget THE JAN SHORT TRIO,
known for it's jazz.
Also done many musicals leads in- BYE BYE BIRDIE, GYPSY, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF...........
Jan has worked all the major hotels with her group;
Reno Hilton, Flamingo Hilton, Horizon, Hyatt, Biltmore, Crystal Bay........

TAKIN TAP was Jan's production, composition and performance
in a Nevada Hotel. She has composed for TV AND VIDEO as well as her own publishing company; SHORT NOTE MUSIC, BMI.
One
of her four CD's was composed for ZOMBOOS HOUSE OF HORRORS, CD & DVD. Her others were country music, LITTLE DOGGIE MUSIC,
MERRY CHRISTMAS and MUSIC TO SAVE LAKE TAHOE, which won her a place to carry the Olympic torch in 2002.
The Lake Tahoe
CD was composed and sold to help fund The UC DAVIS- Lake Tahoe Research Center. This past Aug, The Lake Tahoe Forum hosted
Bill Clinton, Senator Reid, Feinstein, and many other dignItaries. The Jan
Short Trio entertained.
Jan was lucky
to be able to sing her tune "I DREAM A DREAM OF TAHOE",
(lyrics be Dr. Charles Goldman - UC Davis- Tahoe Research Center).
With The Reno Philharmonic @ The Lake Tahoe Summer Music Festival.
Most recently Jan and her famous string bassist
husband, Jay Grauer who has played in over 140 motion picture tracks (ET. ICE AGE, ALLADDIN...)
